A docile Pokémon, it defends itself by kicking the stinging hairs on its back at its foe, and only uses its venomous fangs as a last resort. It captures prey by hiding in a burrow, and torching small creatures that approach the entrance.
Neat! I like how you combined two unusual types to create a definitely unique Pokemon (as should be the Starters). I can't wait to see the second and final forms. :3
If this was an actual game, that's the starter I'd go for.
It'd be the first time I would choose the fire starter over the grass starter for the first play-through. Because man. Charach is frelling adorable. XD

Did you look up how to spell those words in katakana or is that your best guess? I'm curious because if it were up to me, I'd have spelled Jade (ji subscript-e do). The way you have ti spelled kinda sounds Jyado and that doesn't really seem right to me.
And what's the katakana in next to the characters name mean?
I can't remember where but I did look them up.. also the katakana beside the English names are their Japanese names but I'm probably not terrific in coming up with those. In this case it's derived from enkou + kumo.
I want one. I realllllly want one. I'm actually usually attracted to the water starters first. the only other Fire starter that's managed to catch my eye before the water starter was Cyndaquil. Golly, can you PLEASE get a job at Nintendo or GameFREAK so i can have oneof these fine pokemon? I've already got it planned.... I'm going to get a male and name him Cometfire!
